Nearly half of US citizens voted for a President that is known for being lying repeatedly on the most sensitive topics. Republican senators that represent a huge amount of citizens remain silent when offered the opportunity to impeach a former president that almost instored a dictatorship. And this is the country that has the largest atomic weapon arsenal and who’s companies store private and personal information about almost every human living on this planet. Is it still safe to trust America in these conditions ?
For decades, decisions in the United States, whether appreciated or not by the rest of the world, have been taken peacefully, according to the rules of the American democracy. Politicians, as most politicians around the globe, may have flirted with biased reality, pushed political opinions to their limits and hidden facts.
However, since 2016, lying ruthleslly, rewriting history, ignoring lawful court decisions or even openly corrupting officials has become the rule. Intimidation, threats including death threats have become just as usual as if they were bare normal political practices. In fact, those threats and pressions are not even made behind the scenes. They are made openly in the news, on social media, in courts and even in the very senate, not by expressing any direct threats, but by reminding republicans repeatedly and continuously that they went too far with Trump not to be guilty themselves, Hence if they now dare to step back and concede that their party has crossed the red line, the laws punishing those behaviours might well apply to them as well. The other even more scary threat is reminding representatives how many electors had voted for Trump, and that they might disappoint them. And everybody knows how violent Trump supporters have shown to be. Without many thoughts, this clearly means if you dare not to support Trump, you, your family, your friends and relatives are no longer safe
